Our New Look

We are glad to say that our new doors on Bradford Road provide a window into the church for all passers-by. They provide a view into the entrance vestibule and make it both bright and light.

We can open the doors wide to welcome people into our church and hope that once lock-down restrictions are lifted we can invite you in to see for yourself.

SUSPENSION of QUIET SPACE

Regrettably, following the  new restrictions imposed by Government in our area, we have decided to suspend our church opening on Sunday afternoon for “Quiet Space”.

As members of different households are not to be meeting in homes or gardens we feel we should not gather in church at this time.  We will keep you posted as to any further changes and pray the news from the Government late last night has not alarmed you.

QUIET SPACE

Following the easing of restrictions in Shipley, we are re- opening the church from September 6th each Sunday afternoon between 3 and 4.45 pm. We hope it will give people a QUIET SPACE to reflect, remember or just be at peace after this long period of lock-down. Please feel free to drop in any time between 3 and 4.45pm for as long or as short a time as suits you. You do not have to be a regular member of our church congregation.
Because of Government and Church guidelines, we are observing social distancing and have set the chairs out so it will all look rather different from our normal arrangement and can only accommodate a maximum of 30 people at any one time. There are hand-sanitising stations and a one-way entrance and exit system set up. We are obliged to maintain a register of names and contact details of those who come in, again under regulations, but this will remain confidential and retained for just 21 days.
We do look forward to welcoming you.

Prayer Field

Passers-by are invited to take a knitted flower from the bucket of flowers and place them in the lawn in front of church to say a prayer for themself, a friend or family or just because ….
The prayer field is just beginning to bloom and we pray it continues to grow and brings comfort and joy.

Our small contribution to the nation’s celebration of the 75th anniversary of V.E. day. We give thanks for all those who were touched by the Second World War in whatever way. We recognise the sacrifices of six long years of war.

Gratitude

As a small tribute to all the medical staff, care workers and key-workers we have made a banner and placed it outside church. We wanted to say a big thank you for all the things that are keeping us going during this strange ‘lock-down’ time.

Lock down due to Covid 19

While current restrictions are in place we are sorry that all gatherings in our buildings have had to cease. We miss the buzz and chatter of the many church activities and the community groups who access Northcliffe. Moreover, the loss of opportunity to join together in worship is hard and although we are keeping in touch with everyone in our fellowship by phone, email or letter, face to face contact is something we must all forego for the sake of keeping people safe and free from infection.
We applaud all the NHS workers and carers in the community and are mindful of the contribution of so many key-workers who are helping to provide for the needs of others.
We pray for all in our community and for those working to find the solutions needed to combat this virus and its effects in the communities across the world.

Cancellations due to Corona Virus

We continue to keep this under review and follow advice on how the virus may impact on gatherings. We regret that meeting for Worship has been suspended and all church groups and lettings of our building are currently on hold.
We continue of course to hold the Community in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.

Piano Recital delighted the audience at Northcliffe

Jill Crossland performed a lunchtime recital with selections from the Well-tempered Clavier (48 preludes and Fugues) by JS Bach and Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No 30 in E Op. 109. This year is the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth.

Jill Crossland pursues an active concert and recording career. She plays regularly on the South Bank and at the Wigmore Hall in London, and along with recent appearances across this country has performed in Vienna and Dublin. She has featured on radio 3 and on television. Northcliffe church was delighted to host this event, in advance of her playing at Bradford Cathedral in March.
