Celebrate the coming of Christmas

Our Northcliffe Christmas Cards proclaim Jesus the Reason for the Season. Our service for the first Sunday in Advent was led by Caroline Pathak on 2nd December. The first advent candle  – the candle of Hope was lit.

The second Sunday of advent coincided with the lighting of the candle of Peace. Masses of Brownies, Guides and Rangers presented The Nativity in drama, prayer and song on Sunday 9th after an exciting sleep-over. We heard the Christmas story in verse in the form of Granddad’s Christmas Tale. They showed us some of the craft activities they’d done. The church was full of our regular congregation and proud family members seeing their daughters acting as children, shepherds, wise men, the Holy family, angles and stars with a narrator and of course a granddad who linked it all together. Thanks to the Guide Leaders for helping the girls pull off such a successful and delightful service.

On the third Sunday of advent there will be no morning service. Instead we are holding a Candle-lit Family Service on 16th December at 4pm, with carol singing accompanied by Hall Royd Band. This will be followed by drinks of tea, squash or coffee with mince pies or chocolate logs.

The 4th Sunday of Advent is a 10.30 service of 9 lessons and carols led by Janet Smith. There will be no service at Northcliffe on 25th but you are welcome to attend a service Crag Rd Methodist Church at 10am. On 30th December you are welcome to join us here at Northcliffe at 10.30 am for a Communion Service led by Rev’d Phil Drake.
